The Seeing Stars campaign is your opportunity to help renew a proud and beautiful hub of Port Huron's cultural and civic center-The McMorran Place Theatre.

Beginning in the late 1950's, an endowment by the late McMorran heirs created a cultural heart for the community of Greater Port Huron. The McMorran Place Theatre was an integral piece of this sprawling civic complex. Designed by Alden B. Dow, a world renowned Michigan-native architect, the theatre has witnessed many performances on its well-worn stage. A major restoration effort has been undertaken to give this "Grand Lady" a major facelift and ensure it continues to be a lasting entity of Port Huron's cultural and civic history well into the next Millennium.

Improvements to the facade, updates to the landscaping, repair and replace exterior lights and signs, replace theatre entrance doors, update or replace aging sound and light systems, refinish the stage floor and orchestra pit. These are only a few examples of what is necessary to return this edifice to its original grandeur.

To ensure the entire community can participate in this tax-deductible fund raising effort, a sensible contribution plan has been initiated. Star Walk, Star Seat and Star Gazers are components of this multi-level donation program that enables patrons to contribute what they can. After all, the McMorran Place Theatre has been a star of our community for nearly 40 years. Let's keep it shinning for many more to come!

Star Walk

For a tax-deductible contribution of $50, an 8" x 8" brick can be purchased. Benefactors can personalize them with up to 4 lines of information (12 characters per line maximum), including a "Star" that is imprinted to signify the individual's contribution to the campaign. This level of support will generate funds to support the restoration of the entire theatre.

Bricks are installed in front of the theatre's fountain on Huron Avenue , The first installment of bricks were laid in Spring 2000. When the next group of bricks are ready, a postcard will be mailed to contributors upon installation of bricks, acknowledging their generous support and notifying them that their bricks are available to be seen.

Theatre Seat Renovations

For a tax-deductible contribution of $100 to $200, a seat or a group of seats may be "purchased". Your generous gift will restore one or more of the theatre's 1,169 seats, including reupholstering and other restorative work. Donations range in value depending on the seat location.

They are as follows: $100 for Balcony Seats, $125 for Mezzanine Seats, and $150 to $200 for Main Floor (depending on location). A plaque will be placed on each seat imprinted with the donor's name or message. Each plaque will have space for three lines.

Star Gazers
Philanthropic and Endowment Gifts

For Philanthropic tax-deductible gifts starting at $5,000, benefactors can have their names or message immortalized on a Donor Board that will be prominently displayed in the McMorran Place Theatre Lobby. This also applies to those benefactors who choose to remember this worth project in their wills. Each plaque may be imprinted with the donor's name or message.

This graduated level of contributions is identified as follows:
$5,000	Bronze Star
$25,000	Silver Star
$50,000	Gold Star
$100,000	Platinum Star
